Ever have a style you want to try but just don’t know if you can pull it off? I have been eying up faux leather pants all season but confess that I was on the fence as to whether they would look sleek or silly on me.
Finally, while in Laila Rowe (Level 4), I spotted a pair that I couldn’t resist. While getting shots of textured tights for a blog post, I picked up and put back what must have been the 10th pair of faux leather leggings that I’ve flirted with trying out.
It’s the same pair that you can see getting prime display real estate below.
This time, as I went back and forth, wondering if this look would be a friend or foe to my wardrobe, the price tag lifted me over the fence. $22. How could I turn down this deal? Yes, the pants came home with me. They sat in the bag for a day or two. Then, they moved up to closet status. But, still I couldn’t bring myself to commit. The tags remained intact. A few days later, I decided to take the plunge and wear something beyond my comfort zone.
I paired them with a long black sweater and booties the first time and went for a graphic print sweater for their second appearance. They’re dressier than cotton leggings but equally comfortable and surprisingly warm! My 7-year-old daughter snapped this shot so I could show them to you.
I saw a woman the other night wearing a shorter sweater with leggings, with the front and tail of a sheer white button down peeking out. That’s next on my list to try with my new faux leather friend!
I’m kicking myself for not trying out a pair sooner. I am curious to hear what trends out there that you want to try and don’t know how to pull off. Let me know… I just may feature you and/or the trend in a future post.
