Easter Looks for the Kids! Plus, details on our Easter Sweepstakes!

27 Mar

With all the happy hues, sweet prints and plaids, it’s tough to pick just one Easter outfit for the kids!

I showed Easter looks earlier this week on FOX45 Morning News, with the assistance of six adorable models — three girls and three boys!

Here’s a look at the boys’ outfits. Alec is decked out in an outfit from Gymboree. He is wearing a pastel plaid button-down, with a dashing pink tie and linen blend dress pants. The fedora, featuring a band of coordinating colors, completes his look.

Seth is wearing a gingham button-down with khakis from Gap Kids. The touch of teal with the sunwashed slip-on shoes adds an unexpected finish. The color is festive, fun and he’ll be comfortable while searching for Easter eggs!  Isaiah is wearing a Polo Ralph Lauren outfit from Macy’s with a madras plaid button-down, a cable knit sweater vest and kelly green shorts.

Now, to the girls!  We snapped these shots just before they went on set!

Dresses from Lilly Pulitzer, Gymboree and Naartjie Kids!

From left to right: Samara is wearing a Little Lilly Classic Shift from Lilly Pulitzer in Fiesta Pink Everything Nice. It features lace pockets and side bows. The dress pairs perfectly with the petite version of the Lilly Pulitzer McKim sandals.

Little Copely is in a seersucker dress in Purple Posy from Gymboree.  This dress is all about detail with smocking, a sash and a ribbon flower topped with a gem button.

Nia’s asymmetrical handkerchief dress is from Naartjie Kids. The purple hair band and shoes play off the purple in the floral print.

Easter Looks

Festive looks she can also wear to other spring and summer celebrations!

Naartjie Kids offers coordinating leggings to go with many of its dresses. The leggings give the dress a whole different vibe.

Associate, Melanie, is modeling the Matte Jersey Necklace Dress and carrying the Large Vanilla North South Hamilton. Change the look of your bag by tying on a scarf.

Manager, Dustylynn, is showcasing a scarf vest with a chain print. Until it warms up,  layer the vest over a fitted long sleeve tee or sweater. She is carrying the Hamilton Ostrich Embossed  Tote.

Watch for even more bright hues to arrive. When I popped by the store, I received a sneak preview of  the Studded Hamilton bags and coordinating wallets that were just arriving.

PROM DRESSES! So many great picks, it’s tough to choose just one!

Prom Season 2012 is Here!

The selection of gowns at the mall is amazing.

They are sophisticated, on trend and available at every price point.  I EVEN have one to show you that is under $50!

I remember shopping with my mom for my prom dress and struggling to find one that I loved.  I think the biggest challenge for those on the prowl for the right prom dress will be choosing JUST one.

You’ll find every color of the rainbow — with lots of bright cheery hues as well as pastels. The one shoulder look continues to be big. So are Hi-Lo hemlines.

Remember, when shopping for a prom dress, you can venture beyond what is marketed as “prom dresses!”

Here are some of the standout dresses that I found at Macy’s, BCBGMAXAZRIA and Caché.

So, if your prom was many moons ago, do you still have your dress? I have no idea what became of mine. I think I wore it once during college and again on a cruise.  I hope it turns up some day so I can show it to my daughter.  I figure I have about 12 years to track it down…

Anyone have prom dress advice for moms and daughters who are searching for a the perfect one! If you could do it all over again, what kind of dress would you pick?

Flirty & Feminine Dresses for your Getaway & Beyond from Francesca’s Collections

2 Mar

Get ready for sticker shock!  THE GOOD KIND!

I’ve rounded up FIVE flirty and feminine dresses from Francesca’s Collections (Level 4) that all come in under $50! Treat yourself to a coffee too and you’ll still be at that price point.

Each of the dresses in this slideshow are just $44!

Here is a taste of what you can pack up for that spring break getaway and also live in all summer long!

These looks can all be toned down for daytime or dressed up with different accessories for a night out.

Store manager, Jamie Thomes, reports that we’re seeing even more feminine silhouettes and details than last year such as ruffles, key hole cut-outs and lots of lace.

Jamie says colors like coral and turquoise are hot this season in both their  brightest shades as well as their softer ones. Watch for more pastels come summertime!

The tangerine single shoulder, floral dress is my favorite. Jamie suggests pairing it with brown wedges.

GURU TIP: You can instantly change the waist line of a dress by using a belt to dictate where you want it to be. Let’s say there is a thin seam at a point that is not the most flattering for your body. You can use a thicker belt to shift the waist line up or down. Or, you can use this trick to give a dress a different look.

If you missed my other getaway posts, here are the swimsuits I featured at Macy’s, and here is a link to some packing strategies from Capitol Luggage & Leather.
