Is your skin hydrated?
In a matter of seconds, you can find out at L’Occitane En Provence (Level 2)!
Pop into the store anytime and ask for a hydration test. I had one the other day and have to admit that the results surprised me! Store Manager, Anne Jackson, used a hydration pen to test my level. It just involves putting the pen against your cheek.
Read on to see my results and to find out about how you can get a FREE hand massage and mini-facial at L’Occitane during a special four day event, starting today (1/15).

Located on Level 2
Out of a possible score of 100 on the hydration test, I only scored a 52. I did work out shortly before stopping by the store and admit that I primarily fueled up on coffee that morning. While I’m told that those factors can impact the score, I do need to take action!

Hope to score higher next time!
Anne tells me that in the winter our skin tends to be drier than other seasons, and that it’s important that we stay hydrated. She advises that I increase my water intake. I’m definitely slacking on that front and have tried to carry water with me everywhere since my test! Now, I just have to remember to drink it.
Anne also encourages adding a hydration treatment to my skincare regimen. After you take the hydration test, an associate can suggest specific products that can help you improve or maintain your hydration level.
Anne suggests that I try an exfoliation treatment coupled with a hydration mask twice a week from L’Occitane’s Angelica line. This line is named after the Angelica plant. The plant’s organic essential oils are hydrating. This water-based line also includes moisturizer, cleanser and toner. Anne says the line is good for dehydrated skin and maintenance of hydrated skin.

Hydration mask and exfoliator
I sampled the two products and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve always thought that exfoliating treatments were meant to feel rough on your skin. This one wasn’t. I used it in the shower, at Anne’s suggestion. I followed with the mask after the shower for just three minutes and then wiped off what didn’t soak into my skin. My skin felt extra smooth right after. I plan to add these steps into my routine.
Anne explains that the exfoliation step removes any dead skin. After you apply the hydration mask, she suggests following up with a toner. She adds that when your skin is hydrated, it is smoother and glows. When it isn’t properly hydrated, it can look dull and flaky. I had always thought that I was doing enough with moisturizer.
I’m hoping to score a 70 or above the next time I stop into the store. That would put me into the maintenance category. I’ll report back when I return for another hydration test in a few weeks!
