Dining Al Fresco: Ideas from Crate & Barrel!

Planning to dine Al Fresco on Memorial Day? Whether you’re hosting a day or evening cookout, a few simple touches can go a long way!

I popped into Crate & Barrel (Level 2) and am in love with the colors! Just a few accents of bright yellow and turquoise can give your outdoor a space a makeover.

The Salud Pitcher, which can be used outdoor and also displayed inside, is handmade from recycled glass by artisans in Mexico.  The Salud collection includes margarita glasses, short and tall drinking glasses and other pieces. Plus, you can expand on the color story with a fun pillow or other accessories.

I’m all about chameleon clothing. My favorite beach standbys in my closet are two maxi skirts. Along with wearing them as skirts, they also pull double duty as strapless dresses. These Ray Bans feature the option of changing out your lenses. It’s about fashion and function. You can change up your look and also use different lenses depending on the weather. Dark green can be good for a sunny day and you may want to switch to a brown or blue gradient lens on a cloudy day. Plus, if you’re rough on your sunglasses, you can easily replace the lenses without getting a new pair of glasses.

Sunglass Hut carries a number of polarized options including these two pairs by Maui Jim. A store associate tells me that polarized lenses cut the glare, make you squint less and make everything you see more clear and crisp. She says it can also help prevent cataracts. The pair featured on the left is a women’s sporty style. The men’s pair, on the right, can be worn casually and for dressier occasions.

For 2013, members receive this crystal orchid. Her Coach wedges, accented in lime, are a Nordstrom find.  Bailey’s decision to wear the wedges on this day wasn’t just about her outfit. Since she was out shopping with her mom, who is on the shorter side, she purposely went for a smaller heel.

Describe your style: 

I would say it is fairly eclectic. I like classic with a combination of sharp and interesting. I don’t like to be too trendy. I just like things that are a little more classic and timeless.

What trends are you most excited about for the season?

I like all the bright colors. I like the flowy tops. I’m just excited not to wear winter clothes — I’m done!

What is your favorite store at Towson Town Center and why?

Nordstrom —  the variety of clothing that they have and the customer service and I get good points! (She is referring to the Nordstrom credit card.)

If you could go back in time to any decade to experience the fashion of the time, which one would you choose and why?

The ’20s. This is when women were first starting to show their knees and not be as modest. They really used their styes to embrace their creativity and personality more than they had in the past. The haircuts are phenomenal. Love the dresses.
