When Mollie Young saw a Tweet from Baltimore Magazine to win a $250 shopping spree at Towson Town Center with me, she clicked on the link and entered on a whim — never imagining that she would be the ONE randomly chosen!
She was in the staff room at work when an email with the news appeared in her inbox. “I screamed… I was shocked” Mollie adds, “It was just really funny. We had just been talking about how I need to add more color to my wardrobe.”
Mollie moved to Baltimore last year from Mississippi for a job at Johns Hopkins, where she works as a child life specialist in pediatric radiology. She helps young patients understand their medical diagnoses, prepare for their medical procedures and extends support to their families.
Mollie, who has focused on an overall health transformation over the past year and is rebuilding her wardrobe with clothes that fit better, realized that she wore mostly black and little color. ”When I would wear color, people would comment, ‘You never wear color!’”
She started wearing more color this summer and is ready for even more! ”I feel like it matches my personality,” she shares. “I think I’m a lot more of a colorful person!” Not to mention — a brighter style couldn’t be more fitting for a job working with children!
Mollie and I met up on a recent Saturday morning for our shopping spree and started at Gap — where you’ll find denim in just about every color!
We hit the store at the right time! Mollie was given 40% off her purchase during a “Friends and Family” invite that occurs three times yearly.
Here, Mollie’s layered tops make a perfect pairing with the turquoise ankle zip leggings (regularly $69.95).
The base layer green tee above takes on a completely different look in this next outfit. Love the Electric Fuchsia Broken In Straights teamed up with the yellow in the scarf and shoes with the pop of green peeking out of the Fitted Boyfriend Shirt (regularly $49.95). The sunny leather ballet flats and scarf tie the elements together.
We scored this striped tee on the clearance rack. Here’s it’s seen with an Electric Fuchsia Khaki Mini Skirt.
The Nautical Shift Dress (regularly $59.95) creates an instant blank canvas, where you can add in any color. You can get a lot of mileage out of this dress with different scarves, belts, shoes and jewelry.
With the 40% off, Mollie’s $250 Shop Etc. Mall Gift Card stretched far and covered the majority of her purchase. She went home with three pairs of pants, three dresses, a button-down, two tees, two scarves and a hot pink purse!
Mollie was thrilled with all of her finds and endless possibilities for combining her new pieces.
While we exhausted Mollie’s gift card for the shopping spree at Gap, Mollie also happened to have a J. Crew gift card in her wallet. We headed there next and found this animal print belt. I have a feeling it will quickly become a wardrobe staple. It would play well with the Gap striped dresses!
She also picked out these standout stud earrings and a cobalt peplum top.
We walked out of the J. Crew and ended up returning about two minutes later, as this bold red skirt was still on Mollie’s mind! It’s now part of her wardrobe, too!
With purchases in hot pink, bright green, red, cobalt and yellow, you would never know that Mollie once backed away from color. Knowing you want more color is one thing and wearing it is another! I should also mention that every single color that Mollie tried on looked amazing on her! Congrats to Mollie on the shopping spree. Stay in touch and let me know how you are enjoying your new wardrobe!
