Create a SIZZLING makeup look this fall with shades of Crimson Velvets & Nouveau Purples at Sephora!
Sephora (Level 2) recently released some hot shades for fall! Assistant manager Rachel Gonzalez tells me that purple is THE makeup color of the season. This couldn’t be more fitting for Baltimore. It’s a perfect way to strut your Ravens spirit!
Rachel points out that since there are so many shades — from lilac to eggplant — that there is a purple hue to flatter everyone. Here’s an example of a purple eye look!
Rachel suggests that if you aren’t ready to go for a dramatic purple look that you can take a more subtle approach with a purple liner, a purple mascara or mixing in a purple shadow with neutrals. When it comes to eyeshadows, you can really maximize your value and possibilities with palettes.
The best selling Urban Decay Smoked Eyeshadow Palette ($49) features 10 quality shadows, including a purple. The set also comes with a liner and primer.
The Stila In the Know Palette ($39) also includes 10 shadows. Along with the purple shades, it comes with everyday neutrals and a great waterproof purple liner.
The Too Faced: The Return of Sexy Palette ($48) includes the tools to create a neutral look, one starring “passionate purples” and a smokey look. It also comes with a liner and primer along with helpful little cards showing you how to create the looks at home. This set is exclusive to Sephora.
“I think what’s great about the palettes — they have purple in them.” adds Rachel. ”They’re not solid purple. It’s not purple from lash to brow. It’s incorporating purple into what you’re doing.
A “Blackest Black” smokey eye also continues as a big trend and is in the spotlight at Sephora.
The key is to pick one focal point when it comes to makeup advises Rachel. If you go for a more dramatic look on the eyes, then do a more subtle lip and vice-versa.
Now, it’s time to talk Crimson Velvet lips!
“A dark red lip is an easy way to turn up your look,” shares Rachel. ”Some people say, ‘I can’t wear red.’ You can. You just don’t think you can. It’s about finding the right shade and the right finish that works for you.”
“The key is confidence and making sure you wear the makeup and the makeup doesn’t wear you,” Rachel emphasizes. “I understand red lips are sometimes overwhelming, but that is why we are here to help you find your right one. If a full color matte lip is too much, you can do a similar color in a sheer gloss and still be on trend and feel more comfortable.”
The Hourglass Opaque Rouge Lip Color ($28) is designed for an all day wear. Rachel has worn it for 12 hours without needing to reapply. That’s even with eating and drinking. It comes in nine shades, including several in the crimson family.
The Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge Lip Color ($24) has the same staying power and is waterproof! It comes with a duel ended applicator, featuring a clear gloss on one end. You can either go with a matte finish or add the gloss.
