Lime. Grapefruit. Papaya. Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Vodka. Sounds like the ideal shopping list for a summertime party!
But, these are just a few of the ingredients in some of the skincare products you’ll find at LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics (Level 2). I asked for tips on what skincare products can be especially soothing during the summer. Associate Manya Caralle dished up these four suggestions and explains how the ingredients we may associate with eating and drinking, can benefit our skin in the sun and hot weather.
DREAM CREAM: This top selling moisturizer is designed for people with sensitive skin. Manya says it’s also great for babying your skin should you spend a little too much time in the sun. Dream Cream has moisturizing oat milk, which can help alleviate irritated skin. Lavender helps to soothe and balance the skin; rose water eases redness and inflammation. Extra virgin olive oil boosts the moisturizing properties.
OCEAN SALT: This salt scrub is a natural exfoliant. Manya emphasizes that if you are going to use a faux tanning product that it is important to first exfoliate the dead skin. She says the same holds true when it comes to shaving your legs and adds that you can get a better shave if you remove the dead skin first. Men can also use it on their faces. The lime, grapefruit and vodka in the scrub help to brighten your skin and remove oil. The coconut, avocado and seaweed have softening properties and help add moisture back to your skin.
SILKY UNDERWEAR DUSTING POWDER: Cheers to a powerful, yet light jasmine scented weapon against all the summer humidity. This dusting powder absorbs oil and sweat, while moisturizing at the same time. Manya calls the Silky Underwear Dusting Powder her “summer savior.” She suggests applying it before spending many hours outside in the humidity — such as before a summer BBQ or party.
VOLANO FOOT MASQUE: This masque will help you keep your feet in top shape for flip flops, sandals and wedges. The papaya helps to eat away at dead skin; the tomato and potato deodorize. The cinnamon leaf oil leaves you with a tingly, refreshing feeling. Manya suggests slathering this masque on your feet then letting it sit for 10-20 minutes and rinsing it off.
