SHOPPING SPREE with the winner of YOUR WISH LIST GRANTED GIVEAWAY!

6 Jan

Wait until you see what the winner of YOUR WISH LIST GRANTED GIVEAWAY scored when we went on a shopping spree together.  Our winner, Barb of Havre de Grace, and I were joined by her two assistants  — who were so spent by the end of our shopping trip that they both fell asleep in their double stroller.

As I first shared just before Christmas, Barb’s name was randomly drawn from nearly 100 entries to our giveaway, in which I invited readers of this blog to post their wishes for items found at the mall.

Here is a look at Barb’s entry.

Happy Holidays! My Christmas wish list is to get a new outfit to greet the hubby in March when he comes home for two weeks from Afghanistan. A pair of pearl earrings from Tiffanys. Two cute little outfits from Janie and Jack for my 2 1/2 yr old and 6 mo old boys. A giftcard to PF Changs for dinner. Does the TC provide babysitters? Just kidding!

Barb may have been kidding about the babysitter part, but we even fulfilled that wish in the form of a $50 mall gift card, along everything else on her list. She received a $200 gift card to Janie and Jack, a $200 mall gift card to spend on her own outfit, a $100 gift card to P.F. Chang’s and the pearl earrings from Tiffany & Co. Watch her reaction as she opened her little blue box.

After Barb put on her new earrings, we got straight down to business and headed to Janie and Jack with her sons, Gavin and Brady.

Our mission — to find them cute outfits to wear to greet their dad when he comes home in  March from Afghanistan for a break.

In addition to finding adorable matching sweater vests, button downs and khaki cords — all marked down — Barb also bought eight clearance items, including cute tops for next summer.  She only needed to chip in another $3 and change to take home 14 items for the boys.  Here is a sneak preview of how the boys will look when they see their dad at the airport.

After our little photo shoot with the boys in their new outfits, we hit Ann Taylor to shop for Barb, with her $200 mall gift card in hand. On the day we went, most of the store was marked down to 50% off!  The tone of our experience there was set after Barb tried on an animal print scarf — something unlike anything she’s ever worn before — and continued to wear it while we browsed.

Along with the fur vest, top underneath, black fitted pants and necklace Barb wore out of the store, she also bought the animal print scarf and two more tops. I have to admit that if she hadn’t snagged the scarf, I may have. It was the last one. Barb says her next step is to find a pair of black boots to go with her new outfit.

Had it not been for the mega sale, Barb’s total at Ann Taylor would have come to more than $600, but thanks to the half price sale, she spent just over $100 after using her $200 gift card.

I’m hoping Barb will send us an update on how the March reunion with her husband goes.  She hasn’t seen him since last summer and is looking forward to him coming home for good this summer.

Congrats again to Barb!
